We are recruiting a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST7+) in Neurosurgery for a 12-month, fixed‑term post.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for Senior doctors aiming to consolidate higher level Neurosurgical skills in preparation for CCT or CESR pathways. The post holder will participate fully in the Neurosurgical Tier 2 Rota and gain intensive experience in one of the major sub-specialities in the Department.
A dedicated Consultant‑led Neurosurgical teaching programme supports ongoing professional development, alongside opportunities for audit, research, and portfolio enhancement.

Main duties of the job
1:6 non-resident general Neurosurgical on-call as a senior fellow supervising an ST3-5 level trainee out of hours
1-2 General Neurosurgical Clinics per week, Inpatient Ward-Rounds
3 sessions of Elective Neurosurgical operating per week
It will be expected that the candidate has prior experience of completing an Audit cycle and will have been involved in one or more quality improvement projects previously. As part of the yearly Appraisal process, they would be strongly encouraged to be actively involved in Clinical Governance within the department during their employment.

There are extensive opportunities to be involved in research whilst in post. The department has a very strong academic record, having been (and is currently) involved in several landmark Neurosurgical studies.
Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed on them to maintain the wellbeing and protection of vulnerable children and adults. If employees have reason for concern that a patient is 'at risk' they should escalate this to an appropriate person i.e. line manager, safeguarding children's lead, matron, ward sister/change nurse, site manager, consultant.
