The post holder leads the coordination of trauma admissions and patient flow, working closely with consultants and the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, and timely treatment. They play a key role in pre-operative optimisation, supporting daily trauma lists, ward rounds, and theatre planning. A major part of the role involves running the Virtual Fracture Clinic (VFC) and Fracture Liaison Service (FLS), providing follow-up care, patient education, and proactive support to reduce future fractures through osteoporosis and falls prevention. Alongside direct clinical care, the nurse specialist acts as a role model and educator, supporting staff, patients, and carers, while contributing to audit, quality improvement, and service development.
