### Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for co‑ordinating the pathway of care for all trauma patients. Highly specialist knowledge and advanced skills are required in order to assess the physical, psychological and social needs of patients following admission.

The candidate will be part of an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) team on a rota covering all aspects of trauma and orthopaedics.

- Work effectively and resourcefully by coordinating the clinical care of patients and implementing clinical decisions made by the consultant.
- Use expert knowledge and clinical judgement to determine the need for investigations and make initial diagnoses.
- Act as an interface between medical practitioners, nursing staff, the multidisciplinary team, patients and their carers.
- Provide specialist advice to nursing and medical staff when required.
- Deliver ACP‑led clinics—both virtual and face‑to‑face—within the outpatient setting, including advanced assessment, clinical examination, referral for investigations, and completion of clinical records.

### SKILLS & ABILITIES

**Essential**

- Evidence of ability to practice as an expert, independent practitioner; to work autonomously within defined guidelines and protocols.
- Leadership skills demonstrating ability to influence and negotiate successful outcomes.
- Ability to identify and apply at all levels appropriate and responsive communication mechanisms.
- Proven ability to manage and work effectively as part of multidisciplinary team
- Evidence of an ability to manage workload effectively, maximising on the utilisation of available resources.
- Understanding of clinical governance and ability to establish systems in practice.
- Evidence of successful management of change.
- Evidence of ability to influence evidence-based practice.
- Evidence of critical appraisal skills.

### KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

**Essential**

- Experience at band 6 or above within a service incorporating Trauma and Orthopaedics
- Evidence of pro-active leadership/facilitation of Service Development project

**Desirable**

- Experience of involvement in multidisciplinary clinical audit and research

### EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse
- Evidence of teaching in the clinical environment

**Desirable**

- Post registration qualification in an appropriate area of speciality (orthopaedics) at master’s level or equivalent
- IRMER training Leadership qualification or evidence of formal training
