An opportunity has arisen for appointment to the role of Training Programme Director in Dental Core Training within the North West. The successful applicant will support the Associate Dental Dean in Strategic Development.

The post holder will support the development for the Recruitment and Retention Strategy and contribute to supporting the Operational Programme. The post holder will be a member of the Dental Core Training Executive Committee.

The post holder will be one of a team of 5 TPDs, their particular area of responsibility will be DCT within OMFS units.

The post holder will be tasked with delivery of the objectives set out in the Dental Education Reform Programme (DERP) by COPDEND through the DCT Advisory Group.

### Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

- To support the ADD in managing trainee underperformance with the support of the Lead Associate Dean for performance and conduct in line with the NHSE North West Office (TRES) framework.
- To liaise with the NHSE North West Office training programmes in Dental Foundation, Core and specialty as requested by the ADD, to support the development and provision of training opportunities.
- To attend the Dental Core Training Executive Committee and support the Associate Dental Dean and Postgraduate Dental Dean in facilitating appropriate engagement from Training Programme Directors and other stakeholders.
- To provide expert advice on Speciality specific matters to the Scheme.
- To support the Postgraduate Dental Dean and Associate Dental Dean to ensure appropriate systems for Assessment, Rotational Management, Trainee Supervision & Support and other functions within the programme.
- To promote or lead work programmes on behalf of the dept.
- To create and promote shared learning opportunities to increase effective inter-professional working across the faculty.
- To contribute to Workforce Planning.

Working with the Associate Dental Dean you will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality training programmes in Dental Core Training, managing and working with a motivated team of educators and administrative staff.

Working at a senior level, you will have the scope and independence to work with senior colleagues on workforce and education developments in Dental Core Training making a positive impact on training in the North West.

### Qualifications and Training

- Senior clinician or consultant on the Dental Register
- Membership or Fellowship of a Medical or Dental Royal College
- Educational Qualification and experience in line with Dental Gold Guide/GDC Standards for Dental Educators
- Formal educational qualification PGCert/FHEA accreditation or equivalent
