Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner, up to 30 hours per week available working nightshift. Full time and part time will be considered

Candidates to join in new intake for trainee ACP Masters in 2026 as part of this role at dedicated university (to be confirmed). During ACP training, day time working will be required to access learning opportunities.

We are looking to appoint dynamic and forward-thinking trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners (tACP) to our already established team.

The post holder will support the Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) on the Cumberland Infirmary site and the Stroke Rehabilitation ward at West Cumberland Hospital.

Contribute to the planning processes for people with stroke disease within North Cumbria Integrated care NHS Trust, providing:

- To work independently at an advanced clinical level in the direct delivery of high quality care making critical clinical decisions based on advanced clinical skills assessment.
- To provide clinical leadership and support within the nursing teams in developing the Stroke service to improve the patient experience.
- To support Consultants with day to day clinical activity (to be determined according to need of specialist area).
- To provide in-patient areas with consistent high quality clinical care.
- To support Trust Management teams with on-going clinical care provision and assist with effective patient flow through the Trust.

### Main duties of the job

- Manage the complete clinical care for patients within the Stroke Unit, to enhance patient care and improve patient flow in line with national standards.
- Undertake comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, analysing differential diagnoses and decide on the appropriate treatment based on clinical findings for patients with complex multi-dimensional acute or chronic clinical conditions.
- Prescribe medication as appropriate, order investigations, refer to other professionals for tests or examinations and admit or discharge autonomously within the scope of agreed clinical guidelines.
- Identify the need for improvement and change within the area of responsibility and following agreement and approval, implement new policies and practices and where appropriate, service re-design solutions to better meet the needs of the patients and the service
- Provide clinical leadership to other staff within the area of responsibility that will ensure they are provided with the relevant clinical advice, guidance and support to undertake their duties
- The T ACP in HASU will work towards advanced-level capability across all aspects of the patient pathway following stroke.
- There may be times when the Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner may have to travel and be based at West Cumberland Hospital at Whitehaven.
