### Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual to take on a fixed term training post with us, based at Charing Cross hospital. With the support of the local multidisciplinary ultrasound team and the North West London Ultrasound academy you will be complete a postgraduate diploma over a maximum 18-month period.

You will be enrolling on the King’s college medical ultrasound programme from September 2026. Applicants should ensure they meet the minimum academic requirements expected.

The service at Charing cross is extensive and varied, you will be developing your general ultrasound skills in abdominal and pelvic imaging, alongside some vascular work during the training period. It is expected that our trainee will then join the ultrasound team after qualification when a substantive post is available.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced radiographer, nurse or other allied health professional to progress their career and develop new and highly sought after knowledge and skills in a supportive environment within North West London.

### Main duties of the job

- Perform General and Specialised Ultrasound procedures according to Trust, Departmental (under supervision) and statutory regulations.
- To perform a wide range of general and complex ultrasound examinations (undersupervision). To mark suitable sites to aid localisation for interventional procedures.
- To clinically justify ultrasound requests and plan work load by prioritising requests inaccordance with clinical urgency.
- Assist in the day to day running of the ultrasound unit and to deal effectively withunpredictable patient demands.
- To use the equipment and accessories safely and effectively’ reporting any faults throughthe appropriate channels.
- To be conversant with the department computer systems and ensure that accurate records are maintained.
- To participate in database housekeeping as required.
- To participate in audit, research and quality control programmes.
- Provision of clinical information to the patient whilst interpreting, negotiating and adapting the procedure as applicable to that patient.
- To ensure that all standard operating procedures, protocols and guidelines are adhered to by all members of staff.
