This is a fantastic opportunity to gain a fully funded Postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions, while working as part of a highly respected service that delivers evidence-based psychological support to people experiencing common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. You will be based in one of our local Talking Therapies teams, combining academic study with direct clinical experience. Upon successful completion of the course, and gained registration with the BACP or BPS, you will be eligible to apply for a qualified Band 5 PWP position. ### Main duties of the job As a Trainee PWP, you will combine academic study with supervised clinical practice while completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions. You will deliver low-intensity CBT-based interventions to adults experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and depression. - Completing assessments using standardised tools and evidence-based approaches. - Providing guided self-help and psychoeducation via telephone, video, face-to-face and digital platforms. - Managing a high-volume caseload in line with national IAPT guidelines. - Keeping accurate and timely clinical records. - Participating fully in university teaching days and completing required coursework. - Engaging in regular supervision to support learning and ensure safe, effective care. - Promoting a recovery-focused, person-centred approach with service users. - Upholding the values of Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and NHS Talking Therapies. You will be supported by experienced clinicians and supervisors throughout your training, with responsibilities increasing as you progress. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities See job description and person specification for further details about the requirements of the role. Please note that candidates are required to a hold degree-level qualification from a recognised institution. ## Person Specification ### Knowledge **Essential** - Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care - Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health / benefits and employment systems - Knowledge of child protection issues, safeguarding and other relevant legislation **Desirable** - Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems. ### Experience **Essential** - Experience of working with service users who experience common mental health difficulties - Experience of working in the local community **Desirable** - Experience of working in Primary Care Services - Worked in a service where agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes - Previous experience working as a Psychological Assistant in a Mental Health Service. - Experience of computerised cognitive behavioural therapy - Experience of group work ### Skills and Abilities **Essential** - Able to integrate training into practice - Able to complete academic components of the course. - Computer literate - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills - Ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients - Ability to manage own caseload and time. - An ability to interact effectively with staff fromall disciplines - - Must be capable of using initiative and working independently to agreed goals ### Education/Qualifications **Essential** - Qualifications as defined by the University entry requirements. Degree (Lower Second or above) or equivalent level qualification.
