Suffolk Wellbeing are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) Band 4. After successful completion/passing of the training course you would be employed at Band 5.

The posts will be based in Ipswich, but travel will be required as part of the role during training and post qualification across Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex.

This is a full-time training post which will comprise of three days in service (office based) and two days dedicated to university attendance and study(University of Essex.

### Main duties of the job

This is a trainee position and involves undertaking training and completion of university award.

(Please note, we are unable to consider applicants who are currently enrolled on any existing courses.)

As part of this trainee position, you will carry out low intensity CBT interventions and assessments for individuals with mild to moderate depression and anxiety. Support is offered in the form of shadowing opportunities, as well as regular individual and group supervision sessions.

We welcome applicants who are passionate about supporting patients with anxiety and depression in using the techniques of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) guided self help.

All applicants will be considered, but experience of working within mental health/caring capacity is desirable and a current UK driving license and access to a car is essential.

We are seeking an individual with the knowledge and skills to work as part of a team and be innovative in their approach. You will need to be flexible and have the ability to cope in a highly demanding training role and demonstrate a high level of organisational skill.

You will work under the direction of the Team Leader/Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner.

All staff are expected to participate in regular clinical supervision to ensure the quality of delivery and maintain professional development and wellbeing.

It is an expectation that staff will contribute to the ongoing programme of development and improvement, including clinical audit, service evaluation and personal performance appraisal.

Our psychological therapies are delivered face to face, as well as online and by telephone, depending upon the needs of service users. All staff are expected to be present on site to work with colleagues and see people as required, and to participate in a range of training and service activities. During the training course, the expectation is for staff to spend all working time on site. Upon completion of the training course, it is expected that a minimum of 3 days will be spent working on site.

Due to the high number of applications these posts attract, we will reserve the right to close the advert earlier than the proposed closing date.

Interviews will be held in person and take place mid-July 2026 – date to be confirmed in due course - however this is subject to change.

The training course will start in October 2026, with Trust induction taking place at the end of September 2026.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Able to develop good therapeutic relationships

**Desirable**

- Received risk assessment and management training (either formal of through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice

### Experience

**Essential**

- Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem

**Desirable**

- Ability to manage own caseload and time

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Experienced and Qualified Graduate Mental Health Worker with relevant experiences and competencies as required

**Desirable**

- Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
