We are looking for a Therapy Assistant to join Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre in North Lanarkshire.

### Main duties of the job

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work closely to support the delivery of therapy programmes for individuals with a range of communication and complex needs. You will play a key role in helping people participate in activities, develop skills, and achieve positive outcomes. The role: This role is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week based at our Murdostoun site. ### Job responsibilities

- To work under the guidance of a qualified therapy team in the delivery of clinical interventions using a range of technical and creative skills to engage patients / residents / young people.
- Under the supervision of a Qualified Therapist, facilitate and participate in planned group work, individual activities, and ongoing continuous assessment with supervision.
- Contribute to therapy assessments and treatment plans under the guidance of a Qualified Therapist.
- Under supervision of a Qualified Therapist, provide a range of equipment and activities, instructing and guiding patients / residents / young people with more complex needs to support them in achieving identified Speech and Language therapy goals, with some supervision.
- To actively promote patient / resident / young person and family / carer participation in interventions.
- To update the electronic patient record in consultation with clinical colleagues.
- Maintain their own training compliance with and ensure they are up to date with regulatory standards.
- Adherence to all Group policies and procedures and ensuring that all colleagues in the service are aware of and understand company policies.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous experience working with children, adults, or individuals with disabilities in a care or educational setting desirable.

### Knowledge, skills and qualifications

**Essential**

- Have a good understanding of the legal frameworks that are relevant to the role (e.g. Mental Capacity Act)
- Literacy and technology skills to be able to create reports and utilise specialised communication aid software.
- Ability to motivate patients over short & long periods.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with individuals of all ages.
- Teamwork skills to collaborate with therapists, families, and other professionals.
- Ability to manage time and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Flexibility to adapt therapy activities to individual needs.
- Problem-solving skills to address challenges during therapy sessions.
