Are you passionate about helping people regain independence and improve their quality of life?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Therapy Assistant to join our friendly Community Rehabilitation Team. Working alongside Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Clinical Nurse Specialists, you will support patients with a range of conditions including stroke, Parkinson's disease, MS, cancer, amputations and general frailty.

### Main duties of the job

Based across outpatient clinics, patients' homes and care settings, you'll play a key role in delivering rehabilitation programmes, promoting independence and supporting people to achieve their goals.

We're looking for someone who:

- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Holds an NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent experience)
- Has GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Has recent therapy experience within the NHS or private sector
- Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle for work

- Be competent as appropriate to the requirements of the role.

- Be a rehabilitation therapy assistant and understand the knowledge and skills required for the post.
- Work with registered staff to provide a service for a defined population of service users in a variety of settings across the Partnership Trust including the community and hospitals.
- To be able to maintain concentration and focus to fulfil delegated tasks.
- Be skilled in undertaking delegated tasks in the implementation of rehabilitation packages and provide feedback working under the direction of a registered practitioner.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills with both colleagues and services users.
- Competent with IT and the ability to use clinical systems.

### Applicant requirements

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

## Person Specification

### EXPERIENCE

**Essential**

- Relevant placements/experience to the role.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Working in a team/multidisciplinary team

**Desirable**

- Specific experience including supporting or contributing to assessment and management of individuals with compromised functional ability
- Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with the impact of compromised functional ability
- Experience of working in Therapy.
- NHS experience

### QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

**Essential**

- NVQ level 2 in health-related subject and/or equivalent experience
- Evidence of/willing to undertake training relevant to the post.

**Desirable**

- NVQ level 3 in related subject or equivalent

### SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

**Essential**

- Understanding of Care Certificate Standards
- The ability to demonstrate a basic knowledge of physiotherapy and its purpose.
- Basic IT skills
- Standard Keyboard skills
- Assist the practitioner to implement healthcare activities
- Contribute to effective multidisciplinary team working
- Develop effective relationships with individuals
- Implement treatment plans
- Ability and willingness to independently travel across the geographical area to provide podiatry care in hospital, clinics and domiciliary setting as per countywide service need

**Desirable**

- Understanding of Information Governance Data Protection, HCPC and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults/Children
- Understanding of Information Governance Data Protection, HCPC and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults/Children. A basic understanding of medical conditions.
