An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our dynamic and friendly inpatient Orthopaedic therapy teams as a Therapy Assistant based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. This is an exciting time to join DBTH as we further enhance our emergency pathways and progress elective restoration work with the aim of becoming one of the top performing Trusts in the country which delivers outstanding care to patients.

Joining the Trust as a Therapy Assistant is a great way to begin your career in the NHS. It offers valuable experience and various apprenticeship routes are available to develop through to careers in our therapy professions. Our Therapy assistant staff are highly valued members of our team who help us to provide quality care for our patients.

We are a Teaching hospital committed to the development of all staff. You will receive training and support to develop your professional, personal and clinical skills through clinical supervision, training and development reviews.

You will be required to work alongside qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists but also work independently managing your own patient caseload.  Documentation and computer skills are an integral part of the role and you will be expected to document within patients’ records.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to understand the patients’ needs and motivate them throughout their journey is an essential part of this role.

### Main duties of the job

To assess, plan and provide Therapy intervention for patients in an Orthopaedic in patient setting.

To work within agreed guidelines, protocols/competencies

To assist in the delivery and organisation of Therapy services within the specialty.

To undertake specific clinical responsibilities or quality improvement projects supporting the overall delivery of therapy services

To work independently with some patients being the first contact from the Orthopaedic Therapy Team

### Knowledge & Experience

**Essential**

- Significant experience in Health related work
- Broad Therapy experience/experience in a therapy setting
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team

**Desirable**

- Experience working in acute settings

### Qualifications & Training

**Essential**

- 2 GCSE’s or equivalent including English language
- Experience equivalent to the attainment of level 3 Qualification

**Desirable**

- Training courses relevant to post

### Personal Attributes & Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to prioritise and manage own caseload
- Effective time management skills
