An opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Occupational/Physio Therapist to lead the Tayside Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Technology (TORT) Services Assistive Technology wheelchair and seating therapy team based within Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

The Therapist Team Lead is responsible for the day to day clinical and professional leadership, of the Assistive Technology therapist team.  They support the Head of Service in governance, strategic development and quality improvement activities of the NHS Tayside Assistive Technology Service.  They are directly accountable for ensuring that on a daily basis the team has clinical and technical capacity including staff and material resources to meet patient demand.

The post holder holds a clinical caseload and in a multi-disciplinary clinical environment, they will assess, prescribe, capture relevant data, oversee fabrication, and fit and deliver specialist medical devices to professional, regulatory and government guidelines, and continue to provide and review care for the lifetime of the patient.

The post is based in the TORT Centre Ninewells Hospital; however, work is carried out within community settings such as patient’s homes, nursing homes and schools.

The successful candidate will have a degree in occupational therapy or in a relevant therapy specialisation.  They will possess an advanced level of knowledge and expertise which has been acquired through extensive post-graduate experience, theoretical study and relevant specialist courses of the broad range of Assistive Technology techniques and processes associated with contemporary wheelchair and seating systems.  There is an expectation that the successful candidate will have experience leading and managing therapy teams delivering wheelchair, seating and postural mobility solutions.  Competency will be demonstrated through evidence of training, practical workplace experience or relevant qualification in a technical subject.  Applicants must have current HCPC Registration in their specialisation.
