Please see below for detailed job description of the role. ### Main duties of the job We are looking for a friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking radiographer to join our radiotherapy team. You will have excellent communication and teamworking skills and be ready to help run a busy unit in a friendly, modern radiotherapy department. The role involves the treatment of the radiotherapy patients on one of our linear accelerators at our main site at the General. There is also the expectation to rotate through our satellite centre in Basingstoke but travel time and costs will be reimbursed. Other areas of rotational work include pre-treatment, DXR and in our new Brachytherapy suite. A wealth of additional opportunities are available in the following areas; TBI and SABR providing safe, state-of-the-art patient centred care for our patients. We are also a regional sarcoma centre, a tertiary referral centre for Neuro-oncology (delivering SRS/T) and our main site is also the only centre in the country delivering Intra operative Radiotherapy (IOERT) for Pancreatic and GI tumours.    We are the first centre in the UK to have Exactrac Dynamic in clinical use on 3 of our 7 Linacs providing sub-millimetre correction through stereoscopic imaging with 6 degrees of freedom correction. Simply email \[email protected\] ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities At University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, we have a large and very friendly team of over 80 radiographers and Advanced Practitioners delivering high quality radiotherapy treatment to over 3500 cancer patients each year. The normal department working hours include 7.5 hour shifts between the hours of 0700-2000 (Monday-Friday). We also provide on call services for MSCC patients during the weekend. Our department has a commitment to continuing professional development and evidence-based practice through the provision of regular in-house training courses, access to external courses as well as regular supervision sessions, peer-support meetings and staff appraisal. WHAT YOU’LL DO - To deliver radiotherapy treatment using available equipment, under the supervision of Band 6 Radiographers - To calculate and record radiotherapy treatments accurately and maintain written records - To be responsible for the well-being and care of patients during their radiotherapy - To maintain all treatment records to department standards WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR - Enthusiastic individuals with a Degree in Therapeutic Radiography or Diploma of College of Radiographers - Candidate should have a State Registration with the HCPC - Excellent written and verbal English language skills - Experience of a wide variety of Radiotherapy techniques & equipment - Ability to communicate with wide range of people - Ability to work as a team member - Ability to work under own initiative - Be able to take instruction / directions and work within the confines of the role ## Person Specification ### Trust Values **Essential** - Patients First - Always Improving - Working Together ### Qualifications / Training Required **Essential** - Obtained or awaiting to obtain a Degree in Therapeutic Radiography or Diploma of College of Radiographers Obtained or waiting to obtain State Registration with the HCPC, further study/training courses. - State Registration **Desirable** - Further study/training courses ### Previous or relevant experience necessary **Essential** - Evidence of team working.
