### Job overview

Are you ready to be part of something exceptional?

We are seeking a passionate, motivated Band 6 Theatres Practice Educator to join our expanding perioperative team at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, including working in our brand-new, state-of-the-art operating theatres within the Cancer and Surgical Innovation Centre (CASIC). The CASIC centre is due to open this summer and we are recruiting.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of surgical innovation while also gaining a wide range of experience across our established main theatres, day surgery unit, and other clinical areas. We are looking for flexible practitioners who thrive in a varied and dynamic working environment.

As a Band 6 Theatres Practice Educator, you’ll be at the heart of supporting staff who are new to the scrub role, as well as student nurses and ODPs on placement, helping them grow into confident, competent practitioners.

### Main duties of the job

This is a highly rewarding position for someone who thrives on developing others, enjoys being a visible clinical role model, and is passionate about delivering safe, evidence‑based care. You’ll work closely with theatre teams to identify learning needs, deliver tailored education, and create a positive, inclusive learning environment where staff feel supported and empowered.

Alongside hands‑on clinical teaching, you’ll contribute to competency development, support induction and training programmes, and help drive improvements in practice through audit, research, and quality initiatives. Your influence will directly enhance patient experience and outcomes, while strengthening the skills and confidence of our perioperative workforce.

If you’re an experienced scrub practitioner with a passion for education, leadership, and continuous improvement, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day — all within a friendly, forward‑thinking department that values learning, collaboration, and compassionate care.
