### Job overview

The Team Leader within Theatre Services will be responsible for the operational management of the agreed specialty/area within the Operating Theatre Service.

This includes day-to-day coordination, supervision, and leadership of staff across both Main and Day Surgery Theatres.

They will deputise for the Band 7 Team Leader/Senior Sister, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and compassionate perioperative care.

This encompasses staff management, clinical oversight, adherence to policies, and fostering a supportive learning environment for staff and students.

The post holder will demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning and decision-making, maintain expert knowledge of perioperative practice, and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes and service efficiency.

## Person Specification

### EXPERIENCE

**Essential**

- Minimum 4-5 years post registration experience in operating department practice and minimum of 2 years in operating theatres at a senior level
- An extensive knowledge of perioperative practice with expertise in specialist area
- Ability to independently prioritise and organise perioperative care
- Excellent knowledge of anatomy and applied physiology and an ability to teach formally and informally
- Evidence of a positive approach to implementing change in practice.
- Experience of working in a team
