Theatre Scrub/Recovery Practitioner

Band 5  (37.5  hours per week)

Croydon University Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic, caring and motivated individual  to join the Theatre Team as a Theatre Practitioner .

We are interested in candidates with  some Theatre scrub experience , able to demonstrate a commitment to developing yourself and support other colleagues in various  specialty.  You will act as a role model for others,  promoting best practice and delivery of high quality , patient centered care.

You will be rotated through the different specialties, including  Emergency theatres, learning to become an expert in the patient care; team leading intraoperative /scrubbing  and making sure the patient's pathway is maintained throughout .

The diversity of the specialties  we  offer makes this a simulating and engaging place to work in and the department is supported by dedicated and established  multidisciplinary team along with practice educator .

We are a very close-knit and friendly organization where everyone of our 3600 members of staff is valued.

### Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be part of the clinical team , who ensure that clinical care of the patients, and others service users , receive an efficient/effective quality of care.

Within this role you will be expected to work across both the Croydon Elective & Emergency  Surgical Centre.

The Role Responsibilities'  Will Be:

- Prepare the Clinical area (theatres) to receive patients for surgical procedures.
- Provide assistance in clinical  area for immediate post -operative care when the  need arises .
- Assist in the positioning / preparation of the patient as directed by the surgical team.
- Ensure  that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the lab in the correct box provided .
- Ensure all patient information is well documented on the IT system  and everything is logged accurately on the correct system in accordance with  Trust  and departmental policy and procedure .
- Ensuring infection control policy is adhered to.

- number of year experience in scrubbing for any specialty
- Demonstrate up dated clinical knowledge in acute setting
- Able to use own initiative in communicating difficult issues

- Care models of planning in surgical environment audit

- IT skills
- Able to manage difficult situation eg Complex Airway management
- Able to take on more responsibilities
- Able to meet the demanding workload and plan delivery and evaluate care
- Able to work using own initiative and be self -motivated
- Proven communication skills both orally and written
- Able to prioritize and meet deadline

**Desirable**

- Experience of undertaking appraisals
- Leadership or managment experience
- Infection control audit

### Education /Qualification

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse /ODP
- Evidence of continued professional development
- UK Recognized registration
- Theatre course

**Desirable**

- Number of year of experience in all different field eg Paediatrics
- Intravenous therapy qualiciation
