### Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Manager within the Older Persons Community Mental Health Team in Stockton-on-Tees.

There is an expectation that the successful candidate will travel independently across the service.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.

### Main duties of the job

The Team Manager will provide operational management of the MHSOP Community Mental Health Team including accountability for ensuring the highest professional standards and attitudes towards the care of patients are maintained and delivered at all times in accordance with evidence-based practice.

The successful candidate will act as a role model and will be essential in promoting the service. The role will include working with external partners and system-wide partnership. The role will include development of the future NHS 24-hour Neighbourhood centres, building upon Community Mental Health Framework principles and the localised Dementia Strategy.

The successful candidate will manage a team of dedicated staff to support their ongoing development, identifying training and development needs to ensure the delivery of high quality and safe care that is responsive to individual needs.

### Applicant requirements

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
- Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
- Governance and its application in practice

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant experience of operational management (including leading and managing people, performance and service development)
- Working collaboratively with others
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Evidence of delivering management supervision
- Developing, maintaining and auditing standards of practice
- Quality Improvement activities
- Inter-agency and partnership working

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Post Graduate Diploma in leadership or a subject area relevant to the area of practice or be willing to work towards and achieve within the first 2 years
- Hold a relevant degree (or degree equivalent) and have equivalent experience to that of Post Graduate Diploma level such as significant experience of working as a band 6 ( or equivalent Band 6 or above) experience as outlined below

### Knowledge Skills and Expereince

**Essential**

- Working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation
- Experience of working within a range of services, including inpatient and/or community settings
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrates effective Leadership and Management of a Team
- Demonstrate leadership qualities and motivational skills
- Demonstrate effective communication, organisational and administrative skills
- Write reports
- Use multimedia materials for presentations in professional settings
- Use approved techniques in physical intervention if required in appropriate clinical area.
- Demonstrate recovery-focussed practice

**Desirable**

- Project and change management
- Delivering training and education to multi professional groups
- Experience of undertaking or participating in research
