In a period of exciting change, South Cumbria CYPMH Service are looking to recruit a part time Systemic Practitioner, within a Band 7 post, to complement the wider multi-disciplinary CYPMH Service; a busy, friendly service providing a range of treatment approaches to children and young people 0 – 18yrs including CBT, EMDR, Systemic Family Therapy, psychiatry, psychology and DBT. We also work in close collaboration with partner agencies.

We work with children, young people and families up to the age of 18 years presenting with a wide range of moderate to severe, emotional and mental health difficulties. Experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties is essential. The role will focus on undertaking Triage calls, comprehensive mental health assessments, formulations and risk assessments as well as carrying out evidence based therapeutic interventions to support children and families experiencing difficulties relating to complex mental health needs.

We are committed to ongoing continuous professional development of our staff and as a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in various training initiatives, including CYPIAPT.

### Main duties of the job

The hours of work are 9am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday and as we have bases in Barrow and Kendal, travel across the South Cumbria locality will be required and therefore a car driver will be essential.

To contribute to a high quality specialist family therapy service to Young People and families with complex emotional and mental health needs as part of the South Cumbria CYPMH Service.

To provide specialist assessment, formulation and therapy within the service.

To offer advice, consultancy and supervision, under supervision and support the work of colleagues providing care and treatment, according to expertise.

To work with the Senior Family Therapist to provide training to a range of qualified and unqualified staff across mental health areas, as agreed.

To be part of the Duty Rota, managing day-to-day incoming referrals, urgent mental health queries, and acute crisis responses for children and young people.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Skills in the use of methods of Systemic Practice/ family based assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- High level of relationship and communication skills to work with clients, families and/or professionals where the atmosphere might be both pressured and emotive.
- Well-developed skills in the ability to comprehend and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information in a manner appropriate to a range of settings and audiences, including complex emotive situations and those with impaired communication capacities.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Minimum of 12 months experience of working as a Systemic Practitioner and embedding systemic skills in a clinical setting since finishing intermediate training, under the supervision of a suitably qualified Family Therapist.
- Experience of running groups, particularly with parents, adolescents and children.
- Experience of providing consultation to staff in systemic approaches.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Professional qualification in a mental health or social welfare discipline or agreed Association of Family Therapy (AFT) equivalent.
- Postgraduate training in Systemic Practice to enable the title of Systemic Practitioner – namely completion of either ‘AFT approved’ Intermediate Level Systemic Practice Training or CYP-IAPT in Systemic Family Practice.
- Registration with the appropriate regulatory body for core profession.
