### Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and reliable individual to join the Switchboard Team at Glangwili Hospital. The role involves providing a professional and efficient telephone and communication service for the hospital, ensuring all calls are handled promptly and courteously.

We have three 24 hour contracts available, covering shift work on a service that operates 24/7 and 365 days.

### Main duties of the job

- Operate the hospital’s main switchboard system
- Answer incoming calls and direct them appropriately
- Respond to emergency calls and activate bleep/paging systems
- Maintain accurate records of calls and messages
- Provide general information to patients, staff, and visitors
- Support hospital communication systems during incidents or emergencies

**Essential**

- Ability to work flexibly and to cope with an unpredictable workload.
- Able to work unsocial hours.
- A willingness to learn Welsh

**Desirable**

- Welsh speaker (Level 1)

### Experience

**Essential**

- Switchboard / Call Centre experience.
- Experience of working in patient / customer facing role

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in a busy, demanding environment with competing priorities
- Experience of working in an NHS environment.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminologies

### Qualifications and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Educated to NVQ Level 3/GCSE level
- Working knowledge of computerised systems and the ability to use IT packages (e.g. Microsoft Office or equivalent).

**Desirable**

- Educated to NVQ Level 4 / A level.
