An exciting opportunely has arisen for a data analyst to join the Infection Prevention & Control Team (IPC) at UCLH. Our IPC team is a large and an active body of multi professional staff consisting of IPC clinical nurse specialists, an epidemiologist, a dedicated surveillance team, microbiologists; virologists and clinical scientists.

Reporting to the lead nurse for surgical site surveillance and the Senior Nurses for Infection Prevention and Control the successful candidate will work closely with the IPC team to gather ,analyse and report infection data including blood stream infections, surgical site infection as well as supporting the IPC nurses with collecting,  reporting and interpreting  data from clinical audits.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for collecting, reporting and analysing the data that will drive improvements in infection prevention and control across the Trust.  In addition, there is a requirement to have excellent interpersonal abilities, good organisational skills and the ability to influence others.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience and interest in infection-related work
- Proven experience of working with relational databases
- Proven experience of using R
- Proven experience of using SQL Server

**Desirable**

- Experience in an Information Analysis role in an NHS or other healthcare information environment
- Proven experience of using query tools such as Power BI
- Experience of using Epic BI stack, including developing Radar, Slicer Diver, Reporting Workbench contents

### Skills and Abilities

**Essential**

- Ability to interrogate databases
- Ability to interpret complex data
- Ability to convert data to management information
- Ability to use MS Excel
- Ability to use SQL

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of information analysis and the use of information across the NHS
- Advanced use of Power BI
- Advanced use of MS Excel (macro or VBA level)
- Programming with r or python
- Understanding of data quality issues
- Previous experience of submitting data to PHE or other statutory bodies

### Knowledge and Qualifications

- Educated to degree level or equivalent

### Planning and Organisation Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines
