### Job summary

Were really excited to offer this opportunity to join our small, friendly team and help shape the future of support for people affected by cancer. You'll help us bring a brand-new service to life for patients, their families and friends, while also developing support that works for our clinical colleagues and their teams. We've spent the past year listening carefully to what people need. Now were ready to turn those ideas into action and we'd love you to be part of it.

### Main duties of the job

You'll have a real opportunity to build on the support we already offer, bring your own ideas and help make this new approach a success. We're looking for someone who is organised, approachable and genuinely enjoys helping people. You'll be a confident communicator who can use your initiative, work independently and keep a clear head when things get busy. You'll also need administrative experience, strong IT skills and a good eye for detail. Above all, you'll be a kind and compassionate listener who can help patients and carers find the information and support that is right for them. ### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Knowledge of health and wellbeing issues and services specific to cancer, acquired through training and experience.
- Fully conversant with Windows computer software including Word, Access, Excel, and Power point.
- Experience of managing social media and internal information screens.

**Desirable**

- Implementation of support service within NHS/Third Sector organisation.
- Experience of setting up and maintaining databases.

### Special knowledge

**Essential**

- Understanding of local and national cancer information & support strategy.
- Knowledge of complementary & supportive therapies.
- Knowledge of patient information production
- Recruitment & management of volunteers

**Desirable**

- An understanding of the importance of providing clear accessible information for people with a life changing disease.
- Knowledge of cancer & cancer treatments.
- Knowledge of undertaking and reporting patient surveys.
- Experience of facilitating/leading group sessions (preferably patient focused)
