Are you an innovative, creative, motivated caring professional who is looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity to join our well established Intellectual Disability (ID) CAMHS service.

As a Support Worker you will be supporting our clinical staff with patients who may be presenting with behaviours that challenge and/or significant mental health needs. You would be supporting clinical staff to provide person centred, evidence-based, targeted interventions to support the child, their parents/carers and the multi-agency team. You will be provided with regular clinical and peer supervision.

The team work collaboratively, you will have the support and opportunity to develop your own skills and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

This role is a part time fixed term role for 12 months within the pan-Dorset ID CAMHS service. The role will involve working at Marvin House in  Dorchester.  You will need to have a valid driving licence and use of a car as you will be required to review and monitor patients in their own homes and within other community settings.

Opportunities for flexible working are available as long as the service needs are met.

### Main duties of the job

To provide therapeutic practical help and support and guidance to children and young people their families and carers.

To work as a member of the ID CAMHS Team, which provides an evidenced based service to children and young people and supports the needs of families and carers.

To assist in the delivery of care to children and young people, their families, and carers under the direction of the therapeutic team and to support them in the planning and implementation of their care plan.

To support colleagues within the team in line with evidence-based interventions and to undertake service audits as required.

To assist in the assessment of health needs, the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care (including risk assessment) by the team, for both individuals and groups of children and young people, their families and carers

**Essential**

- To be able to demonstrate a functional understanding of a total communication approach and communication systems that support young people with Intellectual Disabilities.
- To be able to demonstrate an understanding of the principles of the sensory integration approach used with this client group.
- Able to act calmly in emergencies and respond in a professional manner to stressful and challenging situations.
- To have a basic understanding of the principals of behavioural assessment and intervention and it's use with this client group supported by the team.

**Desirable**

- Previous experience of working in a community Intellectual Disability setting.
