This post is based at Birmingham Women's Fertility Centre, within the Birmingham Women's Hospital. A key part of the Birmingham Women's and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. The Fertility Centre have over 800 cycles per year; is a leading pre-implantation genetics service; currently has regionally leading success rates; and a clinical team that are recognised nationally and internationally for their work and research in Reproductive Medicine and Reproductive Science. The Birmingham Women's Hospital also has an Endometriosis centre and offers extensive training in minimal access and Reproductive surgery. There are regional services for genetics, endocrinology and post reproductive health and a service offering termination and contraception. There is a well established Andrology service and paediatric and adolescent gynaecology. The job will entail specific training in these areas and research in a related area. The candidate will also be required to provide on call cover in both obstetrics and gynaecology and a daytime labour ward session. ### Main duties of the job The successful candidate will work in close co-operation with Consultants and Nursing staff within the fertility team. Participation in daily ward rounds, clinics and theatre sessions and weekly MDT meetings is expected. Other aspects of the post include teaching and audit and research projects, as well as modules related to the Subspecialty programme. The successful candidate will work on a full shift rota including on call covering the labour ward and gynaecological services. The post holder will be expected to assist covering duties in the fertility unit once trained in this sub speciality. This will include monitoring scans, review clinics, second tier fertility clinics, egg collections and embryo transfers. There is also an expectation of covering on call duties in general gynaecology and obstetrics and emergency cover.
