### Job overview

This is a whole time appointment for 24 months. The post is for trainees in obstetrics & gynaecology wishing to undertake sub-speciality training in Gynaecological Oncology

Applicants must possess MRCOG, Specialty Registrar Year 6 or above (or equivalent) experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology & be able to provide evidence of a Personal Development Plan & Log Book.

The post does not carry a National Training Number (NTN), therefore applicants with an NTN should negotiate with their Training Programme Director for out-of-training experience.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to supervise & train postgraduate resident medical staff & participate in various teaching programmes for postgraduate students.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will cover mainly Gynaecological Oncology workload with regular review of inpatients, outpatient attendance, attending MDT and extended evening theatres as required.

### Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice at time of Application
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- MRCOG Part 3 or equivalent

**Desirable**

- MRCS / FRCS or MRCP
- PhD, MD (original research)
- Other post graduate degree / qualification.
- APM Research exemption

### Research and Audit

- Demonstrates understanding of research, including awareness of ethical issues
- Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of audit, clinical risk management, evidence based practice, patient safety and clinical quality improvement initiatives
- Demonstrates an understanding of research methodology

- Evidence of relevant academic and research achievements, and involvement in a formal research project
- Evidence of relevant academic publications

- Demonstrates an interest in and commitment to the specialty beyond the mandatory curriculum
- Evidence of exceptional achievement in medicine

### Clinical Experience

**Essential**

- Completion of at least five years of a Specialist Registrar Training Programme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ST6) or equivalent by commencement of post
- Evidence of relevant previous experience in gynaecological oncology is required

**Desirable**

- Evidence of successfully working in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of General Surgery or Urology
- BSCCP accreditation or equivalent

### Teaching Experience

**Essential**

- Evidence of teaching experience to both under and post-graduates

**Desirable**

- Teaching qualification

### Management & Administrative Experience

**Essential**

- Evidence of thoroughness (is well prepared, shows self-discipline/commitment, is punctual and meets deadlines)
