An opportunity has arisen for a Study Finance and Commercial Performance Officer to be part of the NIHR Cambridge Clinical Research Facility on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and support clinical research undertaken in the Cambridge Clinical Research Centre (CCRC), which houses six CRFs located in two buildings aligned to Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH).

CCRC provides state-of-the-art Inpatient, Day Case, Outpatient and specialist research facilities to support patients and healthy volunteers of all ages across a range of medical specialties participating in translational and early phase experimental medicine clinical research trials / studies 24/7.

You will play a key role in supporting the study set up and financial management of commercial research studies delivered by across CCRC, ensuring studies are costed appropriately across the lifetime of individual studies and set up within the national 150-day commercial trial set up timelines.

### Main duties of the job

The role will focus on supporting study costing, financial monitoring, and finance study set‑up coordination across the CCRC.

You will maintain accurate financial data using NCVR Interactive Costing Tools (iCT) and EDGE Finance, contribute to performance reporting and assist in optimising processes that enable timely and effective study activation.

You will provide oversight of study costing and financial governance, contribute to process improvement and support the delivery of an accelerated Commercial Clinical Trial Pathway particularly for early‑phase, rare disease and ATIMP studies, ensuring CCRC remains commercially competitive, operationally responsive and financially sustainable.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Strong organisational and planning skills with ability to work independently and prioritise own work
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to build working relationships with departments and colleagues at all levels
- Good attention to detail and proven accuracy
- Competence in using digital systems
- An ability to listen to budget holders, clinical colleagues and senior managers and to interpret responses, so that reports, analysis and advice provided to them are relevant

- Be able to provide, or obtain from other sources, professional advice and support from across all of the research infrastructure

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- NHS research governance and UK approval processes, e.g. HRA
- In depth current knowledge and experience of the process of setting up commercial and early-phase trials
- Knowledge of sponsorship, costings, contracts, finance and clinical trial agreements

**Desirable**

- Awareness of national prioritises, such as the Life Science Strategy
- Familiarity with the roles and functions of key national research infrastructure, e.g. UKCRF Network, ECMC, ATTC, LifeArc

### Experience

**Essential**

- Costing clinical research studies using UK costing tools (SoECAT, NCVR, etc.)
- Relationship building, including independently managing senior stakeholders to achieve objectives
- Exposure to Research and Development in the NHS or in a University or Industry setting
- Coordinating colleagues to deliver outcomes, including influencing and advising where appropriate
- Liaising effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including study teams, sponsors, R&D offices, and support departments (pharmacy, labs, imaging, etc.)

**Desirable**

- Participation in site initiation visits
- Experience supporting early‑phase, rare disease or ATIMP trial set‑up and delivery

### Qualifications

- Post graduate qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent level of experience
- GCP trained
