An opportunity has arisen to join the Obstetric Ultrasound Department at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust as a Student Sonographer.  We are looking for a highly motivated, hardworking individual who can commit to an intense, but highly rewarding training course.  Applications are welcome from any health care professional with a 2:2 or above graduate qualification in their area of expertise. Previous radiographic imaging experience is desirable. The post holder is required to hold, HCPC, NMC or GMC registration as a condition of employment.

This post will give you the exciting opportunity to undertake a Post-graduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound at the University if Health Sciences. During this training post, you will receive clinical and academic training in Obstetric Ultrasound.

Upon successful completion, you will be a qualified Sonographer (Ultrasound Practitioner) with a nationally and internationally recognised Post-Graduate Certificate. While completion of the course provides an excellent foundation for developing skills as an obstetric sonographer, it does not guarantee employment. Any future opportunities would be subject to the standard recruitment process, dependent on available vacancies.

### Main duties of the job

- To undertake a Post Graduate PgC in medical ultrasound.
- The post holder is expected to attend university lectures and workshops and carry out practical training in the Obstetric Ultrasound Department.
- The on-site practical training will be supervised by the Sonography team.
- The post holder has limited freedom to act, only scanning patients whilst under the direct supervision of a member of the Sonography Team.
- To be actively involved and assist with the department Audit, Research and Clinical Governance programme.
- Be involved in the formulation and introduction of policies and procedures, as required. Support the Lead Sonographer role, as required.

- Professional smart appearance as post holder will act as Trust representative
- Occupational Health Clearance.
