An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Acute and Older Persons Medicine Team.  We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist with a specialist interest in supporting older adults recovering from acute illness.

As a team we are committed to providing Physiotherapy intervention in parallel with medical treatment.  The wider multidisciplinary team value our role in assessing patients respiratory function during their hospital journey, informing ongoing acute care planning, alongside our therapeutic skills supporting early mobility and function to manage and prevent deconditioning.

Our clinical caseload is varied and embedded in a culture of education, development, and service improvement. Excellent communication skills and a willingness to develop yourself and others around you are essential.  In turn this exciting role offers you the opportunity to develop both your clinical and non-clinical skills with access to in-service training and personal development.  Weekend working will be required within the role.

Full time: 37.5 hrs pr week

### Main duties of the job

As post holder you will work within a team of Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Assistants undertaking a variety of clinical and non-clinical tasks to support the delivery of physiotherapy services to patients with a home first ethos, promoting early mobilisation and function. You will support junior and student staff, delegate to junior and assistant staff and have a role in teaching opportunities, including our band 5 induction programme.

As the successful candidate, you will need:

- a strong knowledge of frailty and the aging adult
- experience of managing complex manual handling needs
- be required to utilize effective communication skills with patients, their family   and MDT colleagues

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- Senior Physiotherapist responsible for the physiotherapy management of a defined caseload of patients within the specialty presenting to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. See appendix for post details.
- To assess, prioritise and manage own caseload of patients, determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated, and maintain records as a legally autonomous practitioner. Patient presentation may be complex/highly complex.
- Work will be undertaken without direct supervision. Clinical/professional supervision may take the form of formal training, clinical reasoning sessions and occasional direct observation of practice. Advice and support is always available.
- To provide clinical leadership within the speciality including educational, professional and managerial guidance.
- To have an active role in the planning, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the physiotherapy service provided to patients within and out-reaching from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
- To deputise for the Team Leader/Senior physiotherapy staff as required.
- To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.
