We are seeking an passionate and hard-working Registered Nurse or Ophthalmic Theatre Practitioner to join our Eye Treatment Centre team. This role primarily involves working in our eye theatres, assisting with a range of surgeries including cataracts, oculoplastics, strabismus, corneal, and glaucoma procedures. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to rotate into various areas of the Eye Treatment Centre, including clinics, the ward, and the intravitreal injection service.

### Main duties of the job

Assist in Ophthalmic Surgeries: You will be directly involved in a variety of surgical procedures, including cataracts, oculoplastics, strabismus, corneal, and glaucoma surgeries. Your role will involve preparing the operating room, managing surgical instruments, and providing critical support to the surgical team.

Pre- and Post-Operative Care: Your responsibilities will include preparing patients for surgery and providing post-operative care, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care throughout their recovery process.

Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care. Your ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team is crucial.

STAFF CAR PARKING

Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 – 18:30.

For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital.  Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.

This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete “on call” duties within their role.
