This ranges from the most acute spinal cord injury, bone tumour and complex joint reconstruction to orthopaedic and specialist rehabilitation. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, patient-focused and conscientious nurse to join the Surgical Admissions and Procedure Unit team; we are looking for an Admission nurse who has excellent care values, deliver high quality patient centred care and provides gold standard documentation. Previous orthopaedic experience would be advantageous however newly qualified nurses will be fully supported throughout our excellent induction and preceptorship programme. As an individual you must be flexible, have excellent communication skills and capable of working well with members of the multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate must be motivated to develop to their full potential. As an individual and as part of a team you will have the opportunity to contribute to new developments within the service, therefore the ability to implement and adapt to change is essential.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in partnership with the Ward / Department Sister/Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to ensure that the standards of nursing care are met at all times.  This includes assisting the ward / department Sister and the whole team to meet the agreed standards of hospital cleanliness within the work environment.  To provide and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and to carry out all relevant forms of care competently without direct supervision.  Communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate continuity of care and promote effective team working.  To participate in the teaching, supervision and preceptorship/mentorship of learners and other staff. In the absence of a more senior nurse, take charge of the ward.  To act as an effective role model promoting excellence through practice. To support the Charge Nurse/Senior Sister to monitor the safety and quality of care for patients.
