We currently have vacancies on Queen and Sarah Wards within the Surgery Directorate for full time Band 5 registered nurses. The successful candidates will have an amazing opportunity to work alongside some of the most experienced and innovative clinicians in the field of orthopaedic.

Queen and Sarah Ward are elective orthopaedic ward, that provide care for patient both preoperative and post operative to provide enhanced recovery.  Sarah ward also provide the opportunity to learn and develop skill providing care for Oncology and haematology patients.

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic nurses who thrive in fast-paced environments, demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork, and are committed to delivering safe, high-quality care. You will be supported to develop your clinical knowledge and skills in both orthopaedic and oncology nursing, with opportunities for ongoing learning and professional development.

### Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills across two specialist areas while delivering compassionate, person-centred care. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualised care, administer medications and blood products, coordinate care with medical teams and allied health professionals, and provide specialist nursing care, including complex wound management and holistic support for patients with cancer and haematological conditions.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- Act as a role model, demonstrating highly specialist skilled practice thatis underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practiceexperience.
- Facilitate and guide the practice based learning to ensure that it is fit forpurpose for all students.
- Monitoring and assessing the newly qualified staff toensure that practitioner meets the planneddevelopmental outcomes to practice safely andeffectively.
- Contribute to the development of training programmes for improvingthe practice and competence of all staff groups.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working in the relevant area
- Supervision of junior staff/students
- Experiencing of co-ordinating a shift

**Desirable**

- Previous experience in other nursing fields

### Skills/Knowledge

**Essential**

- Able to assess, plan, implement & evaluate nursing care
- Able to work as an effective team member
- knowledge of care and management of an acutely unwell patient
- Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice
- Able to supervise and teach junior staff

### Education/ Qualifications

**Essential**

- RN1/ RN2/ RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality
- Evidence of continuing professional development

**Desirable**

- Teaching & assessing qualification
