### Job overview

The Manchester Cystic Fibrosis Unit is a centre of Excellence in the North West,  Pearce ward is the inpatient unit and we have 20 beds with a staffing ratio of 1 trained nurse to 5-6 patients caring for young adults with varying degrees of acute and chronic CF related illness. we also care for general respiratory patients . This allows us to provide true holistic nursing care of the highest standard to our patients whilst ensuring our nurses receive excellent support and training.  We are a highly recognised research centre within the UK, encompassing a purpose build unit of individual en-suite rooms with sky television, internet access and a bespoke ward based chef service.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an existing highly motivated professional team to cover maternity leave for a fixed term 12 months post.  We welcome applications from newly qualified and experienced staff and will provide you with a comprehensive and individual induction where you are eligible for the following.
- Band 4 pay for newly qualified nurses whilst you await your NMC PIN
- 12 month preceptorship with an initial 4 weeks supernumerary status for all newly qualified nurses.
- Ongoing personal development and support over the first 12 months including: emotional resilience, time management, holding difficult conversations and leadership

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students.

The post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the maintenance of high standards of quality patient care on a shift basis.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working on own and as part of a team
- Ability to supervise and support junior staff
- Evidence of teaching and assessing skills/ability
- Awareness of clinical Audit

- Evidence undertaking a mentor/preceptor role
