## Job Content

### Job overview

This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are part-time, 22.5 hours per week.

Willow Ward is a specialist 16 bedded ward for people with organic illnesses such as Dementia and Alzheimer’s, some of which pose with challenging behaviours.

Although Willow is predominantly a Dementia Ward, we accommodate a variety of other mental health illnesses. Alongside a diagnosis of Dementia, some of our patients may present with depression or have a long-standing disorder such as bipolar or schizophrenia. There is also a degree of physical health care due to the age and nature of the clients.

Charlton Lane is an Acute Mental Health Hospital for older age patients situated in Cheltenham, and it provides inpatient services to the population of Gloucestershire. It offers a vital service in supporting and rehabilitating those suffering from mild to severe mental health problems. All wards are serviced by an enthusiastic, multi-professional team of people, including Doctors, Nurses and Allied Healthcare Professionals who are supported by Ward Secretaries and Hotel Services Staff.

We are seeking highly motivated and committed Band 5 Staff Nurses to complement our current multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate for this post would be an RMN seeking an opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives, with excellent communication skills and a passion for helping those experiencing an acute mental health concern.

### Main duties of the job

In return for your commitment we will provide the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive induction and Mental Health Nurse development programme (including a comprehensive Preceptorship Programme for newly registered nurses) which ensures that you feel fully supported with the right tools to undertake this challenging, but rewarding job. We will provide you with access to Post Registration training courses to help staff meet both your own identified continued professional development needs and the developing needs of this service.

The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We provide a Multi-professional preceptorship programme that is aligned to the National Preceptorship Framework for Nursing and have been awarded the Interim quality mark from NHS England. Our programme is provided to all Newly Qualified; Nurses, Nursing Associates, Internationally Educated Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals and Return to Practice Practitioners. Gloucestershire Health and Care is committed to embedding and providing personalised care through all of its services as part of our high-quality care strategy. The purpose of personalised care is to empower people to lead the lives they want to live. Personalised care starts with a conversation with people about what matters to them. It builds on what people can do, as well as addressing their health needs.  Including new ways of working and delivering care, emphasising that we need to make effective use of the full range of our people’s skills and experience to deliver the best possible patient care.  So we want to know What Matters to You and that you will share our values and join us on this very important journey.
