We are looking to employ an enthusiastic and dynamic RN to complement our existing team. Our ward consists of surgical and medical bays.  We support a wide variety of surgical disciplines including general surgery, gynaecology, colorectal, endocrine, urology, breast surgery, vascular access, community dental, trauma, ENT and oral surgery. We also undertake IBD infusions, blood transfusions and venesections in a separate bay on the unit. ### Main duties of the job As a member of the Day surgery team you will contribute by:- - Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of patient care - Delegation and supervision of junior grades, unqualified and less experienced staff - Working with members of the Multi Disciplinary Team following local protocols and standards - Awareness of the effective management of resources within the department - Participate in clinical trials and research when required - Provide a leadership role model and demonstrate specialist knowledge - To admit, recover and discharge surgical patients. - Cannulation of infusion patients. - To work within the infusion setting administering IBD drugs as required. - Adhering to high standards of clinical practice and provision of support or advice as required. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities Clinical - To be responsible and accountable for assessing, planning and evaluating care for patients and his/her relative with direct supervision according to level of competency. Monitoring and assessing patient’s condition, responding to changes in condition, proposing / making changes to care plan as required. - To recognise the nurses role in health education and incorporate this function within clinical practice whilst respecting the individuals rights and beliefs. - To demonstrate the use of effective communication skills when dealing with patients and their families and to promote effective collaboration within the multidisciplinary team. - To demonstrate and promote a patient-centre style of practice -
