Fox ward are seeking an experienced, ambitious, driven nurse to join us in expanding our children’s cancer services as we set out to create a new, world-leading Children’s Cancer Centre.

Fox Ward is a 10 bedded ward in the Blood, Cells and Cancer directorate caring for blood disorders, immunodeficiencies and leukaemia's. We care for patients needing a Bone Marrow or Stem Cell transplant, Gene therapy or Thymus transplant. It is one of a select few paediatric treatment centres in the UK to offer CAR T-cell therapy among other specialist immunotherapy treatments.

Fox ward will allow you to gain specialist BMT skills and we will support you to build confidence in high dependence nursing. We can offer a number of development and educational opportunities.

We will value your previous experience and support you to develop your knowledge. We can offer speciality courses and various accredited modules to help you gain the relevant skills. We will ensure your development plan is tailored to your needs.

Fox Ward provides a positive nurse led working culture, with safe staffing levels (nursing ward ratios are on average 1 nurse to 2 patients) that enables you to do your job well, supporting your professional & academic development. With the support of the nursing infrastructure including our dedicated nursing education team, you will be guided throughout.

### Main duties of the job

- To work as a skilled member of the nursing team, to provide a high standard of holistic family centered care to the children, young people and families.
- Ability to promote family centered care and establish good relationships with children, young people and their families.
- To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.
- To be able to take charge of the ward in the absence of senior nursing staff following achievement of required competence.

- Understanding of safeguarding issues according to Trust policies and procedures
- Understating or evidence of fulfilling requirements for Revalidation
- Understanding of principles of clinical governance (e.g. risk management, audit, quality)
- Experience of working as part of a diverse team.
- Experience of contributing to an inclusive workplace culture

**Desirable**

- Understanding of nursing practice and innovation outside of GOSH
- Knowledge of clinical incidents and complaints and reporting
- Previous experience in the relevant specialty of post (preferably in an NHS setting)
