Are you a compassionate and motivated nurse looking to develop your skills in a specialist setting? We are looking for experienced nurses who are knowledgeable, ambitious and safety focused, and who put the patients at the centre of all they do.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary team to assess, monitor, and support patients through their diagnostic journey. This role offers an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge in cardiac/cardiothoracic nursing, gain experience in advanced assessment techniques, and contribute to improving outcomes for patients.

We have full time permanent positions with a mixture of long days and nights, Monday - Sunday Previous relevant experience is desirable however we welcome any interested nurses with a passion for cardiac. You will need to be dynamic and a forward-thinking nurse with a desire to share your knowledge and skills within an inclusive and diverse environment. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine enthusiasm for providing high quality, individualised patient centred care.

You will be supported by our nursing management team, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, cardiac clinical practice educators and highly skilled multi-disciplinary team members.

### Main duties of the job

- Providing high quality, effective, individualised nursing care to patients by assessing their needs and developing, implementing and evaluating care plans without supervision.
- The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the specialty.
- To be responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of direct patient care with supervision from senior staff.
- To support the ward manager to monitor the safety and quality of care for patients. Maintaining accurate clinical observations of patients, utilising nursing skills and competencies.
- To manage a group of healthcare support workers and assign delegated tasks and responsibility as appropriate. Assisting in the teaching and development of healthcare support workers and students, helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
- To ensure a positive focused service incorporating patients’ feedback to maintain and improve patient care. To act as an effective role model promoting excellence through practice.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Post registration experience within healthcare

**Desirable**

- Previous coronary care/cardiology or acute medical ward experience
- Previous cardiothoracic care experience

### Education/ Qualifications

**Essential**

- Current RN (Adult) with NMC registration

**Desirable**

- Relevant post registration course in ECG monitoring and interpretation
- Immediate Life Support (ILS)
- Practice Supervisor/Assessor qualification

### Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

**Essential**

- Knowledgeable about healthcare issues and care of the acutely ill patient
- Medication administration skills including IV drug administration (or a willingness to undergo training)
- Ability to develop own clinical skills, problem solve, plan and prioritise workload
- Ability to maintain a safe clinical environment conducive to patient care

**Desirable**

- Basic knowledge of CPAP, NIV, acute MI interventions and treatments
- Rhythm recognition and 12-lead ECG interpretation
- Evidence of teaching and developing junior staff, formally or informally (or willingness to)
