### Job overview

- To demonstrate sound theoretical knowledge of the speech and language therapy process and skills necessary for the management of a range of speech, language and communication (SLC) difficulties.
- To be responsible for the management of a caseload of children with a variety of SLC difficulties, which may include occasional complex cases; all cases will be overseen by a senior Speech and Language Therapist (SLT).
- To participate in the management (assessment, treatment, general management and discharge planning) of children referred to the service.
- To provide support, guidance and information to parents andprofessionals regarding speech, language and communication

### Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a Paediatric Community Speech and Language Team . You will be based across Lancaster, Morecambe and Carnforth working for University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay. Geographically 60 minutes away from bigger cities such as Liverpool and Manchester and 30 minutes away from the Lake District.

The Team  work in clinics, schools and in the child home to provide Speech and Language Therapy for children and Young People age  0-19 years. Therapists are part of a Integrated Team of Nurses and Therapists who work together to improve the outcomes for Children.

The Team have good  support , regular clinical supervision and access to external  training opportunities.

## Person Specification

### Qual

**Essential**

- Honours Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy
- Registered with HCPC

**Desirable**

- Registered member of RCSLT

### Experience

**Essential**

- Paediatric experience
- Experience of undertaking initial assessments and in using a range of assessment tools

**Desirable**

- Experience of both group and individual therapy treatment
- Experience of EHCPs and SEND

### Knowledge/skills

**Essential**

- Knowledge of general clinical issues including information governance, safeguarding
- Ability to work independently as an autonomous practitioner, flexible and good time management
- Interpersonal skills and team player
- Ability to travel
