AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application—but your answers must be your own.

- Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
- Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
- Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you—not an AI tool.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and HCPC registered speech and language therapists to join the Community SLT team in Edinburgh. We have a skill-mixed team of SLTs, SLT Assistants and admin staff working in clinics, schools and nurseries across the City of Edinburgh.

The post-holder will be based at one of the Edinburgh Health Centres and will work on a mixed paediatric caseload in the local Learning Community. You would be part of a skill-mixed team providing SLT support across the range of schools and nurseries in the locality as/when needs arise. Learning Communities also contain Enhanced Support Bases and/or Special Schools, and the post holder may also be asked to work within these Additional Support Needs Educational settings.

You will be a creative, enthusiastic and flexible therapist with some experience of working with children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs. For new graduates we can offer a comprehensive and supportive induction programme to complete your NQP year and further opportunities to develop skills in all areas of paediatric practice.

You will be surrounded by a friendly, experienced and committed Speech and Language Therapy team in Lothian which is innovative and supportive. We are committed to the principles of clinical reflection and improvement to provide a high-quality evidence-based service focused on the child’s needs. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
