### Job overview

The post holder will contribute to the adult team by undertaking general speech and language therapy casework, in a variety of settings, within the health, local authority, independent and voluntary sectors.

### Main duties of the job

The Speech and Language therapy department offers assessment, diagnosis and intervention, both direct and indirect, to clients of all ages, experiencing difficulties in any aspect of communication and/or associated swallowing problems.

The department also strives to raise awareness of communication impairment across professional groups and the general public, as well as offering strategies for prevention.

There is also a commitment to encourage entry to the profession and offer quality placements to Speech and Language therapy students. The department will also offer practical experience, whenever possible, to students from other disciplines.

### Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

### Skills and attributes

**Essential**

- Demonstrate good auditory discrimination skills and ability to transcribe speech phonetically
- Access to own transport for work purposes

### Experience and knowledge

**Essential**

- Clinical experience in adult clients with communication and/or swallowing disorders

**Desirable**

- Additional work experience with members of the public
- Knowledge of the local area

### Qualifications and professional training

**Essential**

- SLT degree or recognised equivalent
- Registered member of RCSLT
- Registered member of HCPC
