An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join the SLT team within our band 6 rotations. The rotations include Acute Medicine/ Senior health, Neurocardiac/ Major Trauma, Community neuro, Outpatients, Stroke, Neurorehabilitation and Acute Paediatrics.

The postholder will be part of a progressive and supportive speech and language team consisting of 30+ SLTs across a range of specialities. Great emphasis is placed on supervision and professional development.

Experience working with adults with communication and swallowing impairments is essential as is dysphagia training.

Working with families is an important part of the work. Excellent communication skills are essential and an interest in the process as well as the outcomes of rehabilitation is desirable.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will independently manage, dependant on the specific rotation, an Adult or paediatric caseload and provide specialist SLT knowledge, skills, and expertise to colleagues and support the SLT service as a whole. There will be opportunity to participate in weekly instrumental assessment clinics.

The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner providing specialist Speech and Language Therapy services to adult/paediatric patients/clients with a variety of needs including Aphasia, Complex needs, Dysphagia, Feeding difficulties, and Cognitive communication difficulties. A significant proportion of these clients will have English as an additional language (EAL).

They will work alongside adult/ paediatric medical, surgical and multidisciplinary staff to ensure highly specialist therapy programs and care plans are in place for the patients/clients under their care.

The post holder will be expected to lead collaborative working with patients / clients, carers and with colleagues internally and externally planning and delivering services.

The post holder will also assist with the work of student placements, provide guidance for speech and language therapy assistants and provide clinical support to other therapists/staff on SLT issues

As part of the Adult rotation specialities, the post holder will be required to work as part of the weekend working rota.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

- Relevant experience as a Speech & Language Therapist
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team

**Desirable**

- Relevant experience at undergraduate/post graduate level including clinical training, clinical experience with an adult caseload in a previous job or clinical placement.
