We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Community/Pre-School Team, supporting children and families across community clinics in the London Borough of Brent.

This role is ideal for therapists in the early stages of their career or those looking to further develop their clinical practice. You will benefit from structured support to build your clinical skills, independence, and confidence within a friendly and collaborative Early Years community service.

Delivering Speech and Language Therapy assessment, intervention, and support for children in early years settings, working with increasing independence. Supporting children, families, and professionals to improve communication outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess speech, language, and communication needs using a range of tools
- Manage and prioritise a defined caseload with appropriate supervision and support
- Develop and deliver evidence-based intervention plans
- Monitor progress and adapt intervention to meet individual needs
- Make informed clinical decisions, including discharge, within scope of practice and competence
- Provide clear feedback and reports to families and professionals
- Work in partnership with parents, carers, and early years staff
- Provide advice and strategies to support communication development at home and in settings
- Support children with a wide range of needs, recognising and valuing cultural, linguistic, and individual diversity
- Communicate sensitively, particularly when sharing difficult information
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessments and annual reviews
- Work collaboratively with health, education and social care professionals
- Participate in team discussions to support coordinated care planning
- Liaise with interpreters and other support services when required
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HCPC and RCSLT standards
- Provide informal and formal training to parents, carers, and staff
- Support assistants, students, and volunteers as appropriate
- Participate in audit, data collection, and service improvement

- To be occupational health cleared for the role specified
- IT literate and able to use a range of specialist programmes
- Able to maintain prolonged concentration in order to assess the speech, language and communication skills of school-aged children using formal and informal assessments
- Travel around district and access different venues, with or without adaptations

- Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills in the assessment diagnosis and treatment of children with a broad range of speech, language and communication difficulties

- Manual dexterity for signing
- Manual dexterity sufficient to carry out swallowing assessment and use of high and low technical assessment equipment

- Knowledge of appropriate range of assessments and interventions for children with Speech, Language and Communication impairments and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits to individual children
