The Trust is seeking a Speciality Psychiatrist (Terms and conditions of service for speciality and specialist grades (England) 2021) to join the Ealing older adults inpatient Team.

### Main duties of the job

This is a newly created substantive post where the post-holder will be part of the Jubilee and Limes team. The supervising consultant is Dr Sofia Zarate Escudero and the ward manager for Limes is  Brightmore Mukutirwa and for Jubilee ward it is Immaculate Robson.  The post holder will be professionally accountable to the supervising consultant of the service. He/she will be operationally accountable to the OPMHS Service Manager, Rebecca Higgins.

Jubilee ward ( St Bernard’s Site) is an admission ward for older adults, accepting patients aged sixty-five and above and a Rockwood frailty score of 6 and above. It predominantly looks after patients of any age, with a diagnosis of dementia and challenging behaviours as well as patients aged sixty-five and above with a functional diagnosis.  There will also be times, often due to bed pressures, where younger adults with a functional diagnosis are admitted onto Jubilee Ward to ensure flow throughout the inpatient wards.

There are two weekly ward rounds on Jubilee Ward that take place on a Tuesday morning (Female Patients) and Thursday morning (Male Patients). There are ‘board’ rounds on Monday’s and Fridays which effectively are ‘handover meetings’ to discuss any urgent patient matters.  The Limes has a weekly ward round (including CPA meetings) every Wednesday morning.

## Person Specification

### Eligibility

**Essential**

- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Minimum 4 years’ experience post qualification and at least 6 of those in the specialty (psychiatry)

**Desirable**

- Good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

**Desirable**

- Qualification or higher degree in clinical research or management
- MRCPsych
- Additional clinical qualifications

### Clinical knowledge

**Essential**

- Excellent clinical skills in the assessment and management of Acute General Adult Psychiatry
- Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
- Excellent knowledge in speciality
- Knowledge and experience in psychopharmacology as applicable to General Adult Psychiatry

**Desirable**

- Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service

### Academic skills and lifelong learning

- Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
