The liaison service has been a well-established service providing liaison inputs for many years. In addition, the directorate offers Liaison Psychiatry services within Surrey's five major District General Hospitals. There has been considerable focus & interest in Liaison services by commissioners, & the post holder will work alongside the managers on directly influencing the delivery of services to the Acute Hospital to suit local needs in East Surrey, Epsom General, Frimley Park, Royal Surrey County & St. Peter's Hospitals. If you want to make a meaningful difference to people's lives & support the integration of mental and physical health care, we'd love to hear from you. ### Main duties of the job The Specialty Doctor will support the existing staff in assessing, diagnosing & managing referrals for Liaison Psychiatry presenting with mental health problems & to provide medical expertise & support to East Surrey Hospital staff involved in looking after patients with adult mental health presentations. The role will also support the existing liaison team in deciding the most appropriate intervention for patients referred to the service. This will include facilitating discharge planning & timely communication with Primary Care, Neighbourhood Teams or Inpatient Services.
