A doctor appointed to this grade:shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC);

Or

- shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas

### Ability

**Essential**

- Ability to manage patients with acute paediatric conditions, common neonatal emergencies and common postnatal ward neonatal issues
- Ability to take responsibility for independent management of patients with consultant supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with patients and other team members.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Appropriate paediatric and neonatal life support qualification
- Child protection training to Level 2 or equivalent
- Satisfactory assessment of clinical ability
- Satisfactory completion of most recent ARCP to allow ST4 or above working or equivalent training record
- Recent experience relevant to the practice of UK Paediatrics
- Understanding of and commitment to the work of the Scottish Patient Safety Programme

**Desirable**

- Previous work in level 3 / regional neonatal unit
- Evidence of clinical audit project completion / and or quality improvement project

- Two years’ minimum experience in middle grade registrar posts or equivalent including experience of working on appropriate ST tier 2 rota for paediatric and neonatal medicine
- MRPCH part 1 or equivalent

**Desirable**

- Intercalated degree (BSc)
- Full MRCPCH

### Organizational /academic Achievements

- Completion of information governance course and knowledge of UK data protection legislation
- Evidence of excellent organisation and time management skills e.g. involvement with rota coordination or teaching program
