We warmly welcome you to our busy and dynamic team, which delivers a comprehensive and specialised Ophthalmology service to a population of over 750,000. Our team boasts of highly experienced specialists in Medical Retina, Cornea, Paediatrics, Neuro-Ophthalmology , Glaucoma and Oculoplastics. We have a close working relationship with other specialties within the Trust that further support the service.  We are supported by efficient, innovative and well led Nursing, Orthoptic and Optometrist teams.

We are excited to recruit a part time Glaucoma Specialist Doctor to provide excellent care to our patients. The post is fixed term for 12 months to cover maternity leave.

We expect the right candidate to be a role model and be to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team through effective communication and influencing skills.

As well as being a highly skilled and experienced Glaucoma doctor, who will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and under the care of consultant ophthalmologists within the Glaucoma service, the successful candidate will have a broad experience in the management of ophthalmology outpatients and will engage in all aspects of ophthalmology patient pathways, including in programmed Eye Casualty sessions.

Have a continuing responsibility for the clinical care of patients in his/her charge and for the proper functioning of the department. Deliver a high-quality, responsive ophthalmological service to the patients who use it. Be responsible for providing appropriate inpatient cover when required Undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients and the running of a clinical department. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current clinical practice and use of equipment. Maintain his/her professional development with all available training opportunities and ensure compliance with mandatory training Detailed job description and main responsibilities The main duties of the applicant include supporting the Medical Retina and/or Glaucoma teams. You will report to your responsible consultant and will be expected to work as a part of a team and provide support to the junior members of staff.  Launching our new Clinical Diagnostic Hub (CDC) in Barking Community Hospital is an exciting project that you will be involved in during its inception and implementation this autumn. We will support the appointee fully in their career progression.

### Education/Qualifications

- MBBS / MRCS / FRCS or equivalent medical qualification
- Eligible for full registration with GMC at time of appointment
- Minimum of 4 years postgraduate training in the UK (or equivalent EEA training)
- MRCOphth or equivalent
- Should have in depth knowledge and experience in glaucoma

**Desirable**

- Equivalent experience in ophthalmology in other grades including overseas may be accepted.
