### Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Oncology Specialty Doctor to join the Oncology team at St Luke’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Surrey Hospital (RSH).

This is a 10PA post consisting of outpatient clinics, ward work, MDT meetings, radiotherapy and chemotherapy prescribing.

The post holder may be required to cover regular on call duties, as per the contract.

In order to fulfil the responsibilities of this post you must be eligible for full GMC registration.  This is a new post within the department and will be a permanent appointment.

Candidates from either the UK, or overseas are welcome to apply.  We would welcome enquiries from anyone wishing to follow the RCR CESR training route onto the specialist register.  The department is developing a CESR pathway and actively supports individuals wishing to develop their career on this pathway. There is also the possibility to consider a Medical Training Initiative, which can help with the GMC registration process.

### Main duties of the job

Here at St Luke’s, we aim to provide first class, high quality care for all of our patients in a friendly and professional setting.  Our services have received national recognition and praise and our patients benefit from the latest and most innovative treatments available, delivered by a team of committed and highly skilled staff.  You will be joining our team of 29 oncologists, supported by a team of Specialist Registrars, Specialty Doctors, SHOs, AHP’s and Specialist Nurses.

The successful applicant will be based at the RSH in Guildford providing a high level of medical care to the Oncology patients in the outpatient clinics.  The job plan may involve travelling to our outreach oncology sites to provide clinic cover, as well as working on the Guildford site. There will be an expectation to work within the tumour group teams, covering the service, where required.  Excellent communication and team working will be required with the tumour teams.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Have completed a minimum of 4 years’ medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification, 2 of which must be in Oncology or a relevant specialty
- Understand the principals of Clinical Governance

**Desirable**

- Experience of research

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Full GMC Registration with license to practice
- FRCR or Equivalent
- Teaching/Education Qualification
- Higher Degree eg MD, PhD or equivalent
