Are you an experienced Emergency Medicine clinician ready to lead a dynamic team on the front line? United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking dedicated senior decision-makers to join the Emergency Department at Lincoln County Hospital.

As a Speciality Doctor, you will provide high-quality, senior-level clinical care and expertise across a 24-hour rota.

There will be a weekend on-call commitment of no more than 13 weekends as per 2021 contract.

It is expected that the post holder will assist the Consultants with audit and quality assurance as well as postgraduate training of junior staff. The Speciality Doctor should be able to liaise confidently with general medical practitioners as well as members of other hospital specialist teams.

### Main duties of the job

This post is based in the Emergency Department at Lincoln County Hospital and is designed for candidates who are working at the level of senior decision maker in Emergency Medicine, or who are ready to take this responsibility and wish to advance their career.

Staff will be expected to work at a senior level with a minimum entrustment level of 3 in all areas of the RCEM curriculum. They will be expected to be able to act as EPIC (Emergency Physician in Charge) and lead the shop floor shift in the absence of a consultant (Usually between midnight and 8am).

The purpose of this post is to provide broad and detailed knowledge, skills and expertise to the Department of Emergency Medicine at a senior level throughout a 24-hour period as well as to maintain the postholders’ own personal and professional development, and to assist the trainee doctors, ACP’s and nurses in the team.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- To see patients attending the Emergency Department, making primary diagnosis and initiating emergency treatment. This will be at middle-grade level (Senior Decision-Maker) within the department.
- Clinical leadership in the delivery of high-quality emergency care.
- Assessment, care and treatment of patients presenting to the ED.
- A role in maintaining the four-hour target for emergency access.
- Ensuring the appropriate referral of patients to inpatient specialties or tertiary centres.
- Liaison with clinicians and managers within and outside of the ED to address issues arising that affect the service.
- Teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including assessments.
- Audit, research and quality assurance processes.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Completed a minimum of 4 years post qualification with at least 2 years in emergency medicine
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems both emergency and elective within specialty

- Able to lead a resuscitation or Trauma Team
- Knowledge in subspecialties eg. Trauma & Orthopaedics
