### Job summary

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an outstanding Specialty Doctor to join the medical team of Consultants and Specialty Doctors in our Community Mental Health Service (CMHS).

### Main duties of the job

You will be forward thinking and able to manage your caseload expertly by ensuring regular assessment and reviews alongside primary care colleagues.You will be encouraged to work closely with the Consultant and Operational Staff to ensure smooth functioning of the service but also to ensure a high standard quality of care for those patients on your caseload. You will have the opportunity to develop psychotherapeutic skills and there are extended opportunities for experience in training in family interventions and CBT.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Four years full-time postgraduate training or equivalent, at least two in specialty training relevant to the post or is able to demonstrate equivalent experience or competencies.
- Knowledge of current mental health legislation.
- Ability to interview and assess patients and write comprehensive, clear medical notes.
- Ability to manage potentially violent and disturbed patients.
- Ability to form good working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Willingness to undertake work in a clinic and community setting.
- Ability to apply evidence based approach to management of clinical problems.
- Ability to communicate with patients and staff, both orally and in writing, to a high standard
- Computer and IT skills
- Reliability.
- Excellent team working skills.
- Caring attitude to patient and relatives.
- Contribute to efficient running of the service.
- Contribute to department management.
- Sensitivity to the importance of considering users view in individual treatment plans and also service development.
- Ability to access transport to undertake duties as appropriate.
- Good time keeping.
- Ability to deal with stressful situations and emergency care.

**Desirable**

- Three years psychiatric training in a specialty training programme.
- Prior experience of working in Community Mental Health Teams.
- Interest/experience in research/audit
- Ability to maintain and build relationships across multiple physical and organisational boundaries
- Ability to motivate a multidisciplinary team
- Practical experience of Care Programme Approach.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MBBS or equivalent qualification
- Full registration with GMC with a licence to practice.

**Desirable**

- Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
- Higher degree.
- Eligible for Section 12 Approval.
