### Job summary

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry to join the Exeter Outer Core Community Mental Health Team, based at Wonford House Hospital, Exeter. This is a 10 PA fixed-term post for 24 months, supporting adults aged 1865 within a defined Exeter locality.

This is a full-time, community-based role, although Less Than Full Time (LTFT) applications will be considered. You will be based within a well-established multidisciplinary team, with dedicated office space, IT and secretarial support available.

### Main duties of the job

The Community Mental Health Team provides on-going support for patients with severe and enduring mental illness and complex needs. The post holder is expected to be actively involved in formulating a care plan and treatment plan based on evidence-based treatment guidelines.

The post holder is expected to work in close liaison and collaboratively with other services/agencies. The post holder would be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team.

The team provides initial assessments of patients who are referred to the Service and triaged by the Referrals management service. With the active involvement of the post holder in the consultation and treatment of complex cases, multi-disciplinary ( MDT ) meetings and the triage process, this team accepts referrals to the CMHT or transfer patients back to primary care or make referrals to appropriate services available in the community, voluntary sector agencies and/or Specialist services

## Person Specification

### Research

**Essential**

- Interest in maintaining up to date clinical knowledge base.

**Desirable**

- Enthusiasm to contribute to research on site.
- Publications in peer reviewed journals.
- IT skills.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Has completed at least four years full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis)
- at least two of these years need to be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or
- the doctor has equivalent experience and competencies.

**Desirable**

- Experience at SHO level or above of working in the field of Psychiatry.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MB BS or equivalent
- GMC registration.

**Desirable**

- Membership or Affiliates of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
- Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
