Are you an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) ready to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a dedicated Band 6 Specialist SLT to join our expanding team.

In line with the national "Experts at Hand" (EAH) initiative, this role focuses on a highly responsive, embedded model of therapy and support. Instead of working in isolation, you will act as the accessible clinical expert directly within educational environments. You will collaborate with teachers, families, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists to provide early, localized intervention for children with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN).

You will work alongside a Highly Specialist B7 therapist and B4 assistant practitioners to support the development of the EAH. You will support the development of Communication Champions across the County and work to embed targeted interventions and coaching teaching staff directly inside mainstream classrooms.

Provide assessment and therapy for pre-school and school age children with a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties.  Write concise notes, reports and programmes for children in order for family and education staff to  support ongoing needs.

Support initiatives within the SALT service to maintain timely waiting lists and waits for therapy intervention.

Engage in and be pro-active in CPD activities in order to continually provide evidence based practice and intervention.

Support the team to continue its transformation journey to deliver an equitable and supportive service across the whole County.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of managing own large and complex caseload independently, being accountable for own professional actions.
- Experience in working in a multidisciplinary environment.

**Desirable**

- Experience of using manual signing systems e.g. Sign along

### Education & Qualifications

**Essential**

- High Level of general education. Leading to entry to professional training.
- Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Membership to RCSLT

**Desirable**

- Accredited courses such as Elklan, POPAT, Signalong, Attention Autism, Intensive Interaction

### Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

**Essential**

- Excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to communicate complex and delicate information in a timely and sensitive way where there are frequent barriers to understanding and/or acceptance.
- Knowledge and ability to deliver teletherapy
- Ability to relate theory to practise.

**Desirable**

- An awareness and understanding of the vision within the Experts at Hand SEND Reform White Paper
