We are excited to be advertising for a 0.4wte B7 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with a special interest in Selective Mutism to join our team of Speech and Language Therapists within Child and Family Health Devon (CFHD).

This post is to cover a maternity leave and is a fixed term post until May 2027.

You will be working closely with the team within the Managing Mood, Emotions and Relationships pathway (MMERS)

We are keen to hear from professionals interested in our new pathway model. You will work with our dedicated Mental Health teams with ongoing training and supervision.

### Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard of Speech and Language therapy (SLT) service to children and young people within a community setting with a specific focus on Selective Mutism.

To act as a source of expertise on SLT providing training and guidance regarding specialist assessment and intervention to Speech and Language Therapists working within Communication and Interaction Pathway in order to maintain the required standard of clinical governance.

To provide Specialist SLT assessment and intervention for a caseload of complex cases.

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.

CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health which are provided by Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust and Devon Partnership Trust. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services.

CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training.

Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- In depth knowledge of current good practice and recent national research in relation to speech and language therapy
- In depth knowledge of child development
- Specialist knowledge and experience of a wide range of therapeutic interventions for children and young people
- Specialist knowledge of a wide range of assessment tools relevant to a broad range of needs in paediatric population
- Specialist knowledge and understanding around SEND
- Evidence of advanced training in specialist clinical area

**Desirable**

- Complaints management and resolution
- Ability to write and present a business case
- Ability to analyse data
- Use of team-based working to promote change and development
- Evidence of audit and quality improvement training
- Experience of leading audit and involvement in research

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- BSc or Diploma in Speech and Language
- State registration current HCPC registration
- Evidence of relevant CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent postgraduate courses relevant clinical area of expertise and/or postgraduate qualification

**Desirable**

- Post graduate leadership certificate
- MSc in relevant clinical area
- Membership of a professional body
